Living under Constant Inter-Dimensional Threat
What to do if your reality is under attack, and the world of BREAK OUT.
Hey it’s Zack here!
You may find yourself in a world where young people are routinely abducted by inter-dimensional robot drones and held in a mysterious ship. You may find yourself in a world where the threat is existential, unexplainable and simply too much to bear. You may find your life transformed, and there may be people who tell you to live with it. What should you do? How should you move on?
I suggest you look at the Ukranian people today, who choose to fight.
Of course, you’ll want to fight with careful planning, putting together the right team, but at the end of the day, the most important thing you’ll need is heart. If you have heart, and your enemy does not, you’ll succeed. This is the what we are seeing in Ukraine. We all know what heroism and bravery look like. It’s undeniable.
BREAK OUT is a story about this same dilemma, and the choice to accept that your life is not going to turn out the way you want, to sacrifice your stability and dreams for a greater cause: heroism in the face of inter-dimensional monsters. I think it’s becoming a common theme and explorations in my writings, but it’s a quality I greatly admire and think about a lot.

It’s a bit of a short update this week, but don’t let that fool you. I’m so busy back here I’m losing my damn mind. All work and no play. I haven’t even seen The Batman! But we are hard at work on comics.

Most likely, your chances, nay, any of our chances of surviving some interstellar or supernatural threat are very low. Usually the body count in those movies and TV shows gets pretty high. So perhaps don’t think of it as how you want to live, but rather who you want to be when you face death by quantum vampire or demonic alien. Like the Ukranians on Snake Island, it’s probably best to just say F off and go out heroes.
