Hey, it’s Zack!
I’m gonna keep this short and sweet today - only one thing on my mind and that’s MINDSET! Vault Comics sci-fi techno thriller MINDSET #3 is out today and it feels so good to get this into people’s hands. I feel like the first two issues set the stage, and we’re really getting to dive into the story here. It’s got some of the best art of the series yet, by John J Pearson, some amazing letters from Hassan Otsmane Elhaou, an incredible variant cover by Conor Boyle and we really couldn’t do it without the amazing Vault team, especially the editors like Adrian Wassel and Dershing Helmer and designer Tim Daniel.
The series is a multi-layered, multi-faceted trip into an examination of our relationships with our devices, the diabolical business side of Silicon Valley and a heady trip with our protagonist Ben Sharp, as he stumbles through an app that promises to free people from their technological addition by using real and secret mind control. If you haven’t read the series yet, what are you waiting for!
Also looks like the reviews are coming in and wow, off to a great start. Check out this 10/10 from Comicbook.com
Non-linear storytelling done right, Mindset continually takes readers on a spell-binding trip across the worst parts of Silicon Valley. The story settles in comfortably in its third issue, kicking up its murder mystery to the next level. Somewhere between Succession, Breaking Bad, and Knives Out, Mindset is about as thrilling as the medium can get. Couple Kaplan's near-flawless script with Pearson's trip-inducing artwork, and it's harder to find a more complete book on the shelves. Beyond that, Pearson pushes the boundaries even moreso with his pages here, which pushes the story to comic book-Nirvana. Mindset stands tall and only gets better with each passing issue, rightfully finding itself amongst some of the best sequential storytelling available today. -- Adam Barnhardt
Sorry, I’m just so proud of this one, it’s really fulfilling to dig in behind the scenes and see it pay off in such a great way. Keep in mind, this is not a supernatural book or an action comic - it’s a heady dramatic thriller. So we’re excited it’s hitting.
Well, I got a million things to do before New York Comic Con, so I’m off to make more comics. More to come…and let me know what you think of Mindset #3 - definitely reach out here or on social media!
And thanks for reading!
